Privacy Policy
liteSSH is designed as a local-first macOS SSH client. The app does not require an account, does not provide cloud sync, and does not include third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
Information We Do Not Collect
liteSSH does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal information with us for analytics, advertising, profiling, or cloud storage. We do not operate a liteSSH account service and we do not receive your host list, server addresses, usernames, passwords, private keys, terminal output, SFTP file listings, command snippets, or port forwarding rules.
Information Stored Locally
liteSSH stores app data locally on your Mac in the app's user data directory. This may include saved hosts, groups, tags, notes, terminal preferences, known host fingerprints, SFTP folder bookmarks, command snippets, forwarding rules, identity references, and encrypted secret records.
Saved passwords and passphrases are stored separately from host configuration. When macOS secure storage is available, liteSSH uses Electron safeStorage, backed by the operating system, to encrypt secrets before writing them to local disk.
SSH Connections
When you connect to a server, liteSSH communicates directly from your Mac to the remote host you choose. SSH traffic, SFTP transfers, and port forwarding traffic are part of the connection you initiate. liteSSH does not proxy these connections through our servers.
Private Keys
liteSSH can reference private key files selected by you. The app stores the path to the selected key and, if you choose to save one, an encrypted passphrase record. Your private key file itself remains on your Mac at the location you selected.
Security-Scoped Bookmarks
For Mac App Store sandbox compatibility, liteSSH may store security-scoped bookmarks for local folders or files you select. These bookmarks allow the app to continue accessing user-selected local paths for SFTP upload and download workflows.
Diagnostics and Support
If you contact support, you may choose to send diagnostic details such as your macOS version, app version, screenshots, error messages, or reproduction steps. Please do not send passwords, private keys, or other secrets. Support information is used only to respond to your request and improve the app.
Children's Privacy
liteSSH is a developer tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes or when legal, operational, or security requirements change. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
